Ohio Advanced Mentor Training

Synopsis

*Please note - This course replaces the Mentor REfresh course. This course provides important evidence of your interest in growing your professional practice as an Instructional Mentor working in Ohio’s Resident Educator Program. This course is designed for mentor teachers who have completed the two-day, Ohio Mentor Academy. The mentoring knowledge and skills that are the foci of the course represent a deeper dive into what it means to be a high-performing instructional mentor. As such, it will not replicate content from the Ohio Mentor Academy, but rather deepen and extend that content while adding new content as well.

Course Overview

The purpose of this course is to help you acquire new understandings and new skills to impact the professional development of Resident Educators.  The process of becoming a high-performing mentor is an ongoing one where mentoring agency grows with experience and with the acquisition of new knowledge and skills. You are therefore encouraged to approach this course, and other professional learning experiences related to mentoring, as important acts of Professionalism. The OTES 2.0 Rubric addresses this in two components: Communication and Collaboration with Colleagues and Professional Learning. Your dedication to strive for Accomplished status in these areas is deeply appreciated. Thank you for all you do to support Ohio’s Resident Educators in their personal journeys to excellence in professional practice.
