Leading Adolescent Literacy

Synopsis

This course is designed to help school leaders evaluate and improve the quality of adolescent literacy instruction in their building or district. Participants who complete the course will understand the importance of adolescent literacy and some key resources and activities to begin implementing and improving literacy. The audience is principals, assistant principals, curriculum directors, coaches, department leaders, and anyone else with a leadership role in literacy instruction.

Course Overview

This course is designed to provide an overview of the key components of leading adolescent literacy at the building and district levels. The target audience includes late elementary, middle and high school building and district leaders who want to take a systems approach to improving literacy instruction for their students. The course contains a brief introduction, two modules and a conclusion. Module One overviews the importance of adolescent literacy and school leadership while Module Two provides an overview of key evidence-based practices in adolescent literacy.
