Synopsis

WELCOME to Pathway C: Ohio's Introduction to the Science of Reading, Grades 6-12 course. The Ohio Department of Education & Workforce and its partners view language and literacy acquisition and achievement as a foundational component of students' success in school and beyond. This course is designed to increase educators' knowledge and skill related to literacy instruction, materials, systems, and the implementation of effective practices.

This course is developed to satisfy the professional development requirements under House Bill 33. It is designed to extend educator knowledge of the science of reading, including evidence-based language and literacy instruction, supporting students with reading difficulties, and instructional strategies for reading and writing. The audience for this course includes teachers, intervention specialists, reading specialists and coaches in grades 6-12.
