Synopsis
This course is developed to satisfy the professional development requirements under House Bill 33. It is designed to extend educator knowledge of the science of reading, including evidence-based language and literacy instruction, supporting students with reading difficulties, and instructional strategies for reading and writing. The audience for this course includes intervention specialists, English learner teachers, reading specialists, or instructional coaches in grades 6-12 who completed the required 18 hours of dyslexia professional development.Course Overview
If you have already been working in Pathway D, do not re-register for this course. This is a new version of the same course.
Each of the modules in this course covers a different topic associated with the science of reading. Modules include information via text and video, graphics, resources, and a response notebook to record notes and reflections. The goal of this course is to increase educators’ knowledge and skills associated with the science of reading, and to identify ways that they can implement their learning in the classroom.
This course consists of 3 content modules as well as a pre- and post-course assessment. Some individuals may be completing this course with the assistance of a facilitator who will provide additional training and guidance for each module.
