Synopsis

This course guides the mentor in supporting the resident educator through the Communication module of the Focused Mentoring courses. By the end of the course, participants will engage in activities involving the following competencies: -Using Data to Identify a Problem of Practice -Implementation of PD Activities in the Classroom -Analyzing and Reflecting on the Impact of Professional Development on the Problem of Practice

Course Overview

In this course, you will be asked to engage in reflective practice around the professional learning and development activities you have been doing throughout your early career. You will select one problem of practice that you are interested in addressing, identifying potential professional growth activities to address that problem, and analyze the impact of these activities on your practice.

Note: This course is part of the Focused Mentoring Program consisting of Focused Mentoring 1, Focused Mentoring 2 and Instructional Mentoring. 

Focused Mentoring 1 targets communication, collaboration and professional growth. Focused Mentoring 2 targets use of student formative and summative assessment in year 2. This program is designed to engage the mentor and resident educator and result in improved instructional practice.
